He is the one who has managed to catch the melody of raindrops and is able to play it even on a dry day. From cow-parship stems (Borshchivnyk or Borshchovyk in Ukrainian) the artist creates ancient musical instruments, in particular – doshchovytsyas (tubes of hollow cow-parship stems filled with free-flowed materials, often cereals). From the old times doshchovytsyas (from the Ukrainian word “Doshch” meaning “rain”) have been used by shamans for taming the elements, in particular, for making the rain come or go away.
The artist is mastering wood carving and metal engraving; experimenting with different natural materials (roots, bone, herbs). On his own he is looking for and trying to revive some of our ancient musical instruments (doshchovytsya, flute – reed pipe); everyday houseware and ceremonial items, ancient weapons.
