Mykhailo is a well-known embroiderer from Ternopil region. He is a master of a great number of embroidery techniques using which he decorates shirts, rushnyks, tea-cloths and runners. Besides, the master has one of the largest collections of folk embroidery patterns of Podillya, Bukovyna, Gutsul and Boykiv regions.
Mykhailo embroiders men’s shirts, runners, tea-cloths and rushnyks. Besides, his wonderful rushnyk called “Mallow” dedicated to the memory of the Ukrainian song-writing genius Volodymyr Ivasyuk, the author has given to the Chernivtsy museum of this composer.
The master is skillful at different embroidery techniques ranging from the cross-stitch to “nyzynka” (closter-stitch), open-work including lyakhivka; stebnivka, retyaz, braids – kinds of feather stitch; pricking-out; nastil, poverkhnytsya – kind of couching stitch, etc.
Mykhailo Pokydanets has one of the largest collections in Ukraine containing folk embroidery patterns of Podillya, Bkovyna, Gutsul, Boykiv and other regions.
