Hannah Shkriblyak

Hannah is a weaver from Kosivshchyna (a Hutsul region) with fifty years of experience. She weaves curative lizhnycks (blankets), verets (matting floor covering) and runners from woolen thread; in winter she weaves warm clothing items: sleeveless jackets, slippers, sweaters. All her family lives on the earnings from this handicraft.

Creative work

Hanna Shkiblyak selects colors and ornaments for her works herself. However, their kinds do not go beyond the established regional traditions: the same well-known cross-striped ornament characteristic for Hutsul carpets. The area of each handiwork is divided into wide and narrow stripes filled by colored geometric ornaments.
