Larysa Holovnya

No evening gatherings and vechornytsi (revels of young people) in Ivan Honchar museum in Kiev can do without this master. Ms Holovnya works there as fabric restorer and teaches all the willing people to ornament the Easter eggs with colorful guardian signs.

Larysa Holovnya is twice a master of national art: she is the master of embroidery and pysanka ornamenting. She embroiders shirts and chemises by ancient kinds of stitches and presents them to her family and friends. Besides, the period starting from Candlemas Day through Whitsunday the artist ornaments pysankas because she says that it’s this period of time that the soul itself becomes attracted to the pysachok desires to create protecting Easter talismans – pysankas.
